Child-Friendly Spaces: Creating Safe Learning Environments

Understanding the concept of Spaces and Environments Friendly to Children (E/EAE) in emergency contexts.

Concept of Child-Friendly Spaces

Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) are participatory environments designed to provide children affected by conflict or natural disasters with a safe setting.

Key Functions:

  • Psychological Support: Integrating play and recreation to help children overcome trauma.
  • Integrated Services: Programs combining education, health, and protection.
  • Temporary Infrastructure: Use of tents or refurbished buildings in the immediate post-emergency phase.
