Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Takamul, funding, and partnerships.
- What is Takamul?
Takamul is Tunisia's first integrated platform for civil society organizations. It gives associations a single place to publish their profile, share their projects, announce events, post job openings, and discover funding opportunities — all visible to the wider public, funders, and institutional partners. The platform is operated from Medenine and covers organizations across all 24 governorates of Tunisia. Every listed association is verified by the Takamul team before publication, so the directory reflects the active civil-society landscape rather than a generic registry dump. Beyond hosting profiles, Takamul publishes curated calls for proposals, a library of operational resources, and a public catalogue of association-led projects. The goal is practical: make Tunisian civil society easier to find, easier to fund, and easier to collaborate with — for associations, funders, researchers, and citizens alike.
- How can my association apply for funding through Takamul?
Takamul does not disburse grants directly. Instead, the platform aggregates funding opportunities from Tunisian and international funders and publishes them as calls for proposals. Each listing names the funder, the thematic focus, eligibility criteria, the budget range when disclosed, and a firm submission deadline. To apply, read the full call carefully, then submit your application directly to the funder using the contact details provided — Takamul itself does not intermediate the selection. Before applying, we recommend completing your association profile on Takamul: funders routinely check the profile, your past projects, and published financial reports when assessing applications. Our resource library includes templates for concept notes, logframes, and budget narratives, and our team can point you to peer associations who have successfully applied for similar opportunities.
- Who funds and supports Takamul?
Takamul is supported by a mix of Tunisian institutional partners and international cooperation agencies whose logos appear in our Partners section above. These partners provide funding, technical assistance, and institutional backing, but they do not control editorial decisions about which associations or opportunities appear on the platform. Takamul's operational costs — platform development, content moderation, verification of new association submissions, and partner outreach — are covered primarily through grants from these institutional partners, supplemented by in-kind technical support from civic-tech contributors. The platform does not charge associations to register, to list events, or to post jobs, and it does not take a percentage of grants awarded through listed calls. If your organization is interested in partnering with Takamul — as a funder, an implementing partner, or a thematic contributor — please reach out through our contact page.
