About Us

Civil Pol for Sustainable Development and Human Rights is an independent, non-profit youth association founded in 2013 and rooted in the Médenine region of southern Tunisia. Governed by an elected leadership team and a general assembly, the organization brings together 54 active members—75% of whom are under the age of 35—and mobilizes a network of nearly 100 committed volunteers.
The Civil Po's mission is to contribute to a more tolerant and just Tunisian society by celebrating the cultural diversity of southern Tunisia as a collective asset, strengthening social inclusion and equal opportunities for women, youth, and vulnerable groups, and preventing and combating all forms of discrimination—whether based on gender, geographic origin, disability, or socio-economic status.
The organization anchors its strategy in the principle of inclusive participation, actively engaging young people from diverse backgrounds—including rural women, persons with disabilities, residents of marginalized areas, and youth in vulnerable situations—in the decision-making processes that shape their future, with particular attention given to those with fewer opportunities.
The Civil Po focuses on four complementary pillars:
  • Active citizen engagement (community dialogue, electoral observation, social accountability);
  • Capacity building through non-formal education in leadership and human rights;
  • Cultural and media innovation (the "4100" podcast, community theater, valorization of local narratives);
  • Multisectoral collaboration with civil society, local institutions, and international partners.
To translate these commitments into action, the association employs non-formal learning methods adapted to the socio-cultural context of southern Tunisia, leverages accessible digital tools to amplify marginalized voices, and integrates participatory pedagogical approaches that transform art, public debate, and media production into spaces for dialogue and the collective construction of an inclusive citizenship.
